Cylindrical/Surface Grinding Machinist | Direct Hire, Full-Time
Location: Berlin, CT
Pay rate: $50,000-75,000/year
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and adjust cylindrical and surface grinding machines to grind parts to tight tolerances and surface finish requirements
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
- Select and dress grinding wheels as appropriate for material and finish
- Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify conformity
- Perform in‑process and final inspections, ensuring parts meet quality standards
- Maintain machines, perform routine maintenance and housekeeping
- Document inspection results and production data accurately
- Follow all safety, quality, and company procedures
- Collaborate with quality and production teams to resolve issues
Qualifications/Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of grinding experience (cylindrical and/or surface)
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T
- Ability to dress a wheel
- Ability to interpret prints
- Ability to use measuring equipment to inspect own parts
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Skilled in the use of precision measuring tools
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work assigned shifts and overtime as needed
