DIRECT HIRE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently hiring a Junior Product Design Engineer to join our team!
Responsible for designing new products and improving existing products in accordance with established quality and engineering processes.
Evaluates products, components, and manufacturing methods to enhance performance, reliability, quality, and cost efficiency while ensuring projects are completed on schedule. Develops and documents product designs, manufacturing processes, and testing methodologies.
Supports production and quality teams by creating assembly processes, designing tooling and fixtures, and establishing testing and inspection procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, revise, and maintain engineering drawings, bills of materials, assembly drawings, and work instructions.
- Design, develop, and implement production and testing fixtures, jigs, and tooling.
- Specify and procure tools, equipment, and resources required for manufacturing and inspection activities.
- Develop and maintain quality control testing methods and inspection procedures.
- Establish and optimize manufacturing processes to improve product quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
- Perform product improvement and value engineering initiatives on assigned products.
- Build and evaluate prototypes while maintaining project timelines and development schedules.
- Develop technical expertise related to product design, component integration, and mechanical interfaces.
- Define and document recommended manufacturing procedures and engineering standards.
- Maintain detailed records of prototype build issues, fit and function concerns, and design revisions.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams during production launch and scale-up activities to ensure smooth knowledge transfer and process implementation.
- Identify requirements for specialized tooling, fixtures, and process aids.
- Develop manufacturing operation instructions outlining assembly sequences and labor standards.
- Analyze manufacturing methods and workflows to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.
- Recommend facility, workstation, or workflow modifications to improve operational efficiency and productivity.
Requires:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of
education and experience. Five years of experience in medical device strongly preferred.
Regular work hours are Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Occasional work outside of regular business hours may be required
Minimal overnight travel, by land and/or air may be required.
Salary: 80-100K with benefits package
