Senior Product Development Engineer
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Development Engineer to lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of innovative products from concept through production. This role is responsible for driving product design initiatives, optimizing manufacturing processes, developing testing methodologies, and collaborating across engineering, quality, and operations teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical design expertise, hands-on prototyping experience, and a proven ability to support products throughout the entire product lifecycle, including design transfer, manufacturing launch, and ongoing product enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of new products and enhancements to existing product lines.
- Create, maintain, and revise engineering drawings, 3D models, bills of materials, assembly documentation, and work instructions.
- Develop and document product specifications, manufacturing processes, and validation/testing requirements.
- Design and implement production tooling, fixtures, jigs, and test equipment to support manufacturing and quality objectives.
- Evaluate product designs, components, and manufacturing processes to improve reliability, performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
- Support prototype development, testing, troubleshooting, and design verification activities.
- Document and analyze prototype build issues, recommend corrective actions, and implement design improvements.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure successful product launches and smooth transfer of designs into production.
- Develop manufacturing operation procedures, assembly methods, and workflow standards.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, waste reduction, and continuous improvement throughout production operations.
- Establish quality inspection criteria, testing procedures, and validation protocols.
- Recommend and implement tooling, equipment, and process improvements that increase productivity and product quality.
- Provide technical leadership and engineering support to cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and operations.
- Conduct value engineering initiatives to reduce costs while maintaining product performance and quality standards.
- Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities related to product or manufacturing issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of product design and development experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong proficiency with CAD software and engineering documentation practices.
- Experience with product lifecycle management, prototyping, validation testing, and manufacturing process development.
- Knowledge of quality systems, design controls, risk management, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Full Time Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
Occasional Travel Required
