Job Title: Superintendent – Structural Steel
Location: Treasure Coast, FL
Reports To: Project Manager / Director of Construction
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Structural Steel Superintendent to oversee the on-site execution of structural steel projects. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day field operations, ensuring that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, schedules, and quality standards. The Superintendent serves as the key liaison between field personnel, subcontractors, and project management.
Key Responsibilities:

Supervise all on-site structural steel activities including fabrication, delivery, erection, and installation.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and OSHA standards.

Coordinate daily work schedules, manpower allocation, and equipment needs.

Maintain strict adherence to project timelines and provide regular updates on progress and potential delays.

Interpret construction drawings and specifications to ensure work is performed to exact requirements.

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve field-related issues in real-time.

Conduct and document daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and jobsite inspections.

Monitor material deliveries and ensure proper handling and storage on-site.

Oversee quality control and ensure all installations meet industry and project standards.

Maintain accurate daily logs, field reports, and records of crew performance and site conditions.

Lead and motivate field crews to achieve high levels of productivity and craftsmanship.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification in construction supervision or structural steel preferred.

Extensive experience (5+ years) in structural steel erection and field supervision.

Strong understanding of structural steel drawings, erection sequencing, and construction methods.

Familiarity with AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) standards is preferred.

Proven ability to lead field teams and coordinate multiple subcontractors on active job sites.

Excellent communication and leadership skills with a proactive, hands-on management style.

Solid knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical documents.

Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with construction management software is a plus (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Tekla).
