Job Title: Cost Accountant
Company: Express Employment Professionals (On behalf of a local food manufacturer)
Pay Rate: $25/hour, Depending on Experience (DOE)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our team in a dynamic and fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This position plays a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, controlling costs, and supporting strategic business decisions. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with production, operations, and finance teams to provide meaningful cost analysis and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and analyze standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead
Perform cost variance analysis and support financial decision-making
Monitor inventory valuation and ensure accurate production costing
Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with month-end close
Ensure adherence to GAAP and support internal control processes
Assist with general ledger entries, tax documentation, and administrative functions
Contribute to audit preparation and continuous process improvements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 2 years of cost accounting experience (preferably in food manufacturing)
Proficient in ERP systems such as SAP or GEM; advanced Excel skills required
Strong knowledge of GAAP and inventory valuation methods
Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational abilities
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and possess a valid driver’s license
Compensation:
$25/hour, depending on experience (DOE)
