Job Title: Accounting Clerk

Position Summary:
Under direct supervision, the Accounting Clerk supports both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to understand and apply basic accounting principles in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be able to interpret financial data, follow processes independently, and accurately manage daily transactional activities.

Work Schedule: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday
Type: Long-Term Temporary
Pay: $22–$25/hr


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions with accuracy
  • Review and verify invoices, bills, statements, and payment vouchers
  • Analyze daily bank activity and correctly identify deposits vs. payments
  • Reconcile vendor statements and account balances
  • Research and resolve discrepancies related to invoices, credits, and billing issues
  • Prepare checks for signature and process payments
  • Maintain accurate vendor and customer records
  • Communicate with vendors regarding payment status and discrepancies
  • Assist with collections efforts as needed
  • Support internal teams with invoice requests, order verification, and documentation

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related financial role strongly preferred
  • Foundational understanding of accounts payable vs. accounts receivable required
  • Ability to interpret financial transactions (e.g., bank activity, deposits, payments)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in a high-volume environment
  • Ability to follow documented processes and apply them independently
  • Comfortable referencing notes and training materials to complete tasks correctly
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

Additional Notes:

This is not a simple data entry role. The position requires critical thinking, the ability to understand financial workflows, and prior exposure to accounting or bookkeeping tasks. Candidates should be comfortable learning systems quickly and applying that knowledge with minimal supervision.
