Medical Office Collection Specialist Job Summary
We are hiring a full-time Medical Office Collection Specialist for a drug screening office in Grand Rapids, MI. This role involves a mix of front desk administrative duties and testing services including drug screen collections, fingerprinting, and related testing. Medical Office Collection Specialist Responsibilities
- Verify donor identity and perform urine, hair, oral fluid, and alcohol collections following DOT and Non-DOT guidelines
- Conduct fingerprinting, DNA swabbing, and breath-alcohol tests per established protocols
- Complete and verify chain of custody documentation for all collections
- Perform biometric processing, including capturing electronic fingerprints, photographs, and signatures
- Cross-train across front desk reception, fingerprinting, and collections to support daily flow of the office
- Respond to donor and client inquiries in person and by phone in a professional and timely manner
- Prepare specimens for shipment to the lab at the end of each day
- Assist with office operations including greeting customers, answering phones, handling mail, and maintaining supplies
- Travel offsite as needed to conduct collections at employer or court locations (10–20% of schedule, mileage reimbursed)
- Follow safety and compliance procedures while maintaining a clean and organized testing environment
- Attend team meetings and required training sessions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Schedule & Pay
- Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm
- One Saturday per month, 9:00am–12:00pm
- $17.50–$18.00/hr
- Mileage reimbursement for offsite testing
Medical Office Collection Specialist Qualifications

High school diploma or GED
-
1+ years of customer service experience (medical office or testing environment preferred but not required)

Ability to complete DOT urine collection training and become certified as a DOT Collector and Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT)

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately

Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities

Professional, patient, and dependable demeanor with strong communication skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, etc.)

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Ability to stand/walk for prolonged periods, use a computer frequently, and occasionally bend, reach, and lift up to 10 lbs
