About the Role
The Production & Manufacturing Supervisor plays a key leadership role in a fast‑paced manufacturing and production environment. This position oversees daily operations, supervises production associates, and ensures workflow efficiency across assembly, warehouse, factory, machining, welding, and related production areas. Ideal candidates will have experience in manufacturing, production, machine operator roles, construction, machinist work, or welder/welding environments.
This role focuses on planning and assigning work, implementing policies and procedures, improving production methods, and fostering strong associate relations through coaching, development, and performance management.
Essential Job Functions
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise team leaders, material pilots, trainers, and production associates to meet daily and weekly production goals.
- Communicate expectations, monitor performance, provide coaching, and administer corrective action when necessary.
- Maintain staffing levels by orienting, training, and developing associates.
Production & Workflow Management
- Establish and maintain workflow efficiency, cycle times, and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Schedule and assign associates, set priorities, track progress, and adjust plans as needed.
- Ensure quality standards are consistently met throughout the production process.
- Perform daily data entry for production output, scrap reporting, and other MRP/ERP requirements.
Equipment & Process Improvement
- Coordinate maintenance and repair of equipment; collaborate with maintenance teams.
- Research new equipment, tools, and techniques to improve production processes.
- Analyze daily production data to identify issues, recommend solutions, and drive continuous improvement.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a safe, clean work environment by enforcing proper equipment use and safety procedures.
- Comply with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards; report any nonconformance.
- Ensure adherence to all safety rules, including PPE requirements and accident reporting.
Associate Development & Support
- Resolve associate issues through investigation, conflict management, and action planning.
- Identify developmental needs and provide coaching, mentoring, and training.
- Track training hours, labor hours, and report downtime to the Section Manager.
Professional Development
- Maintain technical and professional knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and industry best practices.
- Complete all assigned corrective, preventative, and business plan objectives.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Operations Management or Business required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3+ years of supervisory experience required, preferably in a manufacturing, production, warehouse, assembly, factory, welding, machinist, or construction environment.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems required
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data, processes, and products.
- Effective communication skills and proven training/coaching capabilities.
