Overview
We are seeking an experienced skilled and detail-oriented Welder to join our manufacturing team in Sherrill, NY. The ideal candidate will have experience in various welding techniques, fabrication processes, and manufacturing work. This role requires a strong understanding of blueprints, schematics, and mechanical systems to produce high-quality welded components that meet industry standards.
MUST have welding experience to be considered
Shift:
Monday through Thursday 6:00am to 4:30pm
Sunday through Thursday 8pm to 6am
$22.50 to $23.50/hr
Job Responsibilities
- Sets welding machine voltage and wire speed for proper fusion of metals following standard work methods and detailed drawings.
- Welds assemblies to engineering specifications
- Performs basic maintenance of welding equipment to ensure proper working order.
- Inspects weldments for obvious defects such as but not limited to: weld spatter, rough welds, missing welds and sharp corners/edges.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Job Skills Requirements
- Basic reading, writing and math skills. Basic blueprint reading preferred.
- Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location
Duties
- Perform welding operations using MIG, TIG, FCAW, and other welding techniques to fabricate and repair metal components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure precise fabrication and assembly.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
- Use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to verify dimensions according to specifications.
- Conduct quality inspections to ensure welds meet ASME codes & standards and client specifications.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols on construction sites or manufacturing facilities.
- Assist in the setup of welding equipment and perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal operation.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in welding within manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), FCAW welding processes; MUST HAVE welding experience to be considered .
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, plasma cutting equipment, press brake machines, and rigging techniques.
- Knowledge of ASME codes & standards related to welding and fabrication practices.
- Mechanical knowledge including pipe threading, machining operations, soldering, and assembly procedures.
- Experience working with sheet metal fabrication and ductwork installation is a plus.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations required for precise fabrication tasks.
- Ability to operate forklifts or cranes is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Strong safety awareness with the ability to follow all safety protocols on-site or in the shop environment.
