Job Title: Supply Chain Specialist 

Pay: $26/hour 

Location: Monroe, NC 

Schedule: 6:00am-2:30pm

 

Position Summary
The Buyer is responsible for purchasing materials and components needed to support manufacturing operations. This role works closely with Production, Engineering, and Suppliers to ensure materials are available on time, at the right cost, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing & Execution

  • Issue and manage purchase orders for machined parts, fabricated components, steel, and MRO items

  • Support the full purchase order lifecycle from requisition through delivery confirmation

  • Execute MRP-driven purchasing and adjust quickly to changing production needs

  • Issue RFQs/RFPs and support competitive sourcing decisions

  • Partner with Engineering to confirm specifications for engineered components

  • Use ERP systems to manage purchasing activities, reporting, and data analysis

  • Independently troubleshoot issues and perform root-cause analysis

  •  

    Monitor supplier performance related to on-time delivery, quality, cost, and responsiveness

    Maintain and develop supplier relationships

  • Support supplier consolidation and risk mitigation efforts

  • Communicate clearly and consistently with suppliers

  •  

    Participate in daily production planning meetings

  •  

    Engage on the plant floor and participate in Gemba walks to understand demand and constraints

  •  

    Ensure continuous material availability to support production and revenue goals

  • Resolve invoice discrepancies with Accounts Payable

  • Support cost-reduction initiatives and negotiate pricing and terms

  • Recommend improvements to purchasing processes and ERP utilization

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities as needed

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment 

  • ERP experience 

  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work fully on-site and engage on the production floor

Preferred

  • Experience in engineered-to-order manufacturing

  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement training or certification
