Job Full Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Yard Driver to join our team. The Yard Driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers and freight within the yard, ensuring that operations run smoothly and effectively. This role requires a strong understanding of various truck types and driving techniques, as well as a commitment to safety and compliance with all regulations.
Full Time
Monday to Friday
7:00am to 3:30pm
$21.00 per hour
Responsibilities
- Safely operate various types of trucks including tractor-trailers, roll-off trucks, flatbeds, and dump trucks within the yard.
- Perform routine inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition before operation.
- Maneuver trailers in tight spaces, ensuring proper alignment for loading and unloading.
- Maintain accurate records of movements and assist with inventory management as needed.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to coordinate the timely transfer of freight between loading docks and storage areas.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations while operating vehicles in the yard.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized yard environment.
Skills
- Proven experience in route driving and commercial driving is preferred.
- Proficient in operating manual transmission vehicles.
- Familiarity with different truck types including roll-off trucks, flatbeds, dump trucks, and tractor-trailers.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members.
- Ability to work independently while adhering to safety standards.
