Job Full Description
Express Employment Professionals is hiring a Sales Representative for a local building materials company. The Sales Representative is responsible for generating sales and building strong customer relationships within the construction and building materials industry. This role involves identifying customer needs, recommending appropriate products, providing quotes, and ensuring excellent service throughout the sales process. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of building supplies (e.g., lumber, drywall, roofing, hardware), is results-driven, and excels in customer communication.
Essential Functions

Promote and sell building materials and supplies to contractors, builders, remodelers, and homeowners.

Develop and maintain relationships with existing accounts while actively pursuing new business opportunities.

Provide accurate quotes, product recommendations, and delivery timelines.

Understand customer project needs and offer solutions that align with their budget and timeline.

Stay updated on product knowledge, inventory, pricing, and promotions.

Collaborate with warehouse and delivery teams to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.

Process sales transactions using POS or CRM systems (depending on inside or outside sales).

Track orders, follow up with customers, and resolve any delivery or service issues promptly.

Meet or exceed monthly sales goals and performance targets.

Attend trade shows, networking events, or product training as needed.
Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 / Annually DOE
Schedule: 8:00am - 5:00pm
Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or construction management is a plus.

1–3 years of sales experience, preferably in building materials, construction, hardware, or related industries.

Knowledge of common building materials (e.g., lumber, drywall, fasteners, roofing, insulation).

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and sales software (e.g., CRM platforms).

Valid driver’s license (for outside sales roles); clean driving record.

Customer-focused with strong relationship-building skills.

Self-motivated and goal-oriented with a passion for sales.

Ability to understand construction plans, specs, and jobsite requirements is a plus.
