Quality Assurance & Safety Manager

Location: Millersburg, Oregon
Salary Range: $96,000 – $137,180
(Compensation based on experience, education, and internal equity. Eligible for annual incentive bonus. Relocation assistance available.)

 

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quality Assurance & Safety Manager to lead our plant’s quality, food safety, and environmental programs. In this role, you’ll ensure that our products consistently meet the highest standards of quality and safety, while fostering a culture of compliance, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.

You’ll serve as a key liaison between operations, customers, and corporate leadership—driving excellence in manufacturing, safety, and quality assurance.

 

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance Leadership

  • Oversee all plant-level quality functions and ensure alignment with corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Manage and continuously improve the food safety system, including ISO, FSSC, and HACCP programs.
  • Develop and maintain quality procedures, documentation, and training to ensure compliance with customer and company requirements.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, quality concerns, and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and customers to address quality issues, claims, and corrective actions.
  • Administer quality systems such as the Infinity system and oversee audit readiness.
  • Lead customer audits and maintain strong relationships focused on quality performance and reliability.

Safety & Environmental Management

  • Promote a safe and compliant work environment by identifying, correcting, and preventing unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings, inspections, and incident investigations to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and implement facility emergency response and contingency plans in coordination with environmental and safety teams.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous and non-hazardous waste management procedures, including proper handling, storage, and documentation.
  • Lead training and awareness programs to strengthen the plant’s safety culture.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Foster a positive and productive employee relations environment built on trust, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to QA and safety personnel to ensure high performance and engagement.
  • Partner with manufacturing, engineering, and corporate teams to meet plant and company goals.
  • Manage departmental budgets, staffing, and performance metrics.
  • Be available for weekend, overtime, or on-call work as required to support operations.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Food Science, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in quality assurance or food safety within a manufacturing environment.
  • Certification or demonstrated experience with ISO, FSSC, and HACCP systems (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of quality principles, auditing practices, and regulatory compliance.
  • Skilled in problem-solving, root cause analysis, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.

 

Work Environment

This position requires work in both office and production settings. Exposure to noise, chemicals, and manufacturing equipment is expected. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE)—including safety glasses, hearing protection, and appropriate footwear—is required at all times in production areas.
