Operations Technician / Area Supervisor

Pay: $28 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:00 am–3:30 pm (four or five 10-hour days per week)

 

Are you an experienced manufacturing leader driven to bring cutting-edge solutions to a rapidly growing industry?

 

As an Operations Technician / Area Supervisor, you will drive process control and oversee a dynamic team producing products for sustainable agriculture. This role provides hands-on experience across all aspects of the operation, including production oversight, quality control, engineering support projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and supply chain logistics.

 

This position is based in Bend, Oregon and requires onsite presence. Our production facility is clean, temperature-controlled, and focused on light-duty manufacturing using a variety of custom equipment. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and innovative biotech manufacturing operation in Central Oregon. After completing cross-functional training, the Operations Technician is expected to advance into an Area Supervisor role.

 

The Area Supervisor will rotate through multiple areas of responsibility to support their development. During these rotations, they will collaborate with Purchasing, Sourcing, Engineering, Product Development, and external vendors. Regardless of the assigned area, the role emphasizes continuous improvement through LEAN principles. This person will help facilitate problem-solving sessions with peers and production operators to improve product quality and the overall production environment.


Responsibilities

Area Oversight

  • Manage an assigned operational area, rotating based on business needs and individual development.
  • Support production teams by teaching best practices.
  • Assign tasks to team members based on forecasts and orders.
  • Maintain accurate raw material and finished goods inventory using the ERP system.

Special Projects

  • New equipment commissioning
  • Experimental product builds
  • Engineering improvement projects
  • Operational efficiency improvements
  • New technology research and integration
  • Equipment specification work

Supply Chain Ownership

  • Coordinate local and international shipping between business sites and customers.
  • Oversee raw material supply across multiple production areas.
  • Propose process and equipment improvements, including ROI-based proposals.
  • Lead problem-solving sessions with quality and operations teams.
  • Use ERP (Dynamics AX) to maintain inventory, shipping, and operations records.
  • Maintain effective communication with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

Beneficial qualities and skillsets include:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong computer skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing short- and long-term projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially under pressure.
  • Enthusiasm for teamwork across multiple functions.
  • Experience teaching or training peers on new processes or equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving ability with awareness of resource and timeline risks.
  • Mechanical, electrical, or software aptitude (preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience supervising others.
  • Positive, growth-oriented approach to new responsibilities.
  • Passion for cross-functional collaboration.
