Terminal Operator
Pay: $20-$23
Schedule: Full-Time
Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and mechanically inclined Terminal Operator to support daily operations at a bulk material distribution facility. This role involves loading and unloading materials from railcars and trucks, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate documentation and efficient product flow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Load and unload bulk materials from railcars and trucks
- Operate conveyors, pneumatic systems, and loading equipment
- Position and secure railcars and trucks using mobile equipment
- Monitor gauges, valves, and systems to ensure proper material flow
- Maintain accurate records including invoices, bills of lading, and load tickets
- Track shipments, inventory, and incoming/outgoing orders
- Communicate with drivers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure timely deliveries
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment (valves, compressors, augers, etc.)
- Use welding and cutting tools for equipment repair when needed
- Collect product samples and monitor inventory levels
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and recommend solutions
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3–6 years of experience in industrial, distribution, or related field preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Basic computer skills and ability to complete documentation
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and procedures
- Ability to perform basic math calculations (fractions, percentages, etc.)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in bulk material or cement operations
- Forklift experience
- Experience operating railcar moving equipment (track mobile)
- Welding experience
- OSHA or safety training
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, crawling, and climbing
- Work in outdoor and industrial environments, including exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and extreme temperatures
- Ability to work around heavy machinery and mechanical hazards
