Industrial Construction Estimator

$16-$22/hour DOE

M-F 8am-5pm (weekends and evenings availability)

Position Summary:
The Industrial Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for industrial construction projects-including cold storage, warehouses, and infrastructure-by analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation. This role plays a critical part in project planning, budgeting, and bidding efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review architectural and engineering drawings and project specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Perform quantity take-offs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor work.
  • Analyze project logistics, timelines, construction methods, and risk factors.
  • Develop and maintain cost databases, unit prices, and historical cost data.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors for pricing accuracy and scope clarification.
  • Solicit and review bids from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Present cost estimates and proposals to stakeholders and management.
  • Monitor ongoing project costs and update forecasts as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.
  • Identify and evaluate potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support contract negotiation and change order processes.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred but not always required with strong experience).

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial/commercial construction estimating.
  • Proven background in cold storage, tilt-up concrete, steel structures, or heavy civil infrastructure is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of building systems including MEP, refrigeration, and insulation.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Excellent math, analytical, and technical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specs.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
