Job Title: Accounts Payable Technician

Location: Edinburg, TX

Schedule: Monday – Friday, Full-Time

Department: Finance

Reports To: Finance Manager / Accounting Supervisor

Pay Rate: $17.71 per hour

 

Position Summary

The Accounts Payable Technician plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of the center by ensuring accurate and timely processing of payments. This position is responsible for managing invoice processing, maintaining vendor records, reconciling statements, and assisting with monthly and year-end closing processes. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and possess a strong understanding of accounting principles.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable transactions, including reviewing and entering invoices, verifying approvals, and matching purchase orders and receipts.
  • Prepare and process payments (check runs, ACH, wire transfers) in accordance with internal policies and deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate and organized vendor files and payment records.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or billing issues.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including account reconciliations.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain positive relationships with external partners.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and government regulations.
  • Support audits and provide necessary documentation as requested.
  • Collaborate with finance and operations teams to improve payment processes and reporting accuracy.

Qualifications

•* *Graduation from an accredited two-year college with major coursework in Accounting is required.

•* *Minimum of two (2) years of experience in accounting or accounts payable roles.

  • Previous accounts payable experience preferred, especially in healthcare or government-funded environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of government accounting practices and regulations is a plus.
