Full Job Description
We are seeking a Purchasing Manager for a well-established concrete and construction materials company in Victoria, TX. This role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the purchase of materials, equipment, fuel, and supplies necessary to support daily plant operations and production.
This is a key operational role focused on cost control, vendor management, and ensuring consistent material availability in a fast-paced production environment.
Essential Functions
• Negotiate pricing and contracts with vendors and suppliers
• Source materials including cement, aggregate, admixtures, fuel, and equipment parts
• Monitor and manage inventory levels to support production demands
• Coordinate with plant operations and maintenance teams
• Analyze purchasing data to control costs and improve efficiency
• Build and maintain strong vendor relationships
• Ensure timely ordering to prevent production delays
Skills & Competencies
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
• Knowledge of construction materials and industrial supply chains
• Inventory management experience in a production environment
• Ability to analyze costs and manage purchasing budgets
• Proficient with spreadsheets and purchasing systems
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, or concrete operations
• Experience negotiating supplier contracts
• Experience managing inventory tied to production
Preferred:
• Concrete, aggregate, asphalt, or heavy industrial background
• Experience with fuel contracts and equipment parts sourcing
