Position Overview
Seeking a detail-driven, in-house Estimator to manage projects from concept through final bid for residential barn-dominiums, metal farm and ranch buildings, and commercial metal structures.
This role translates architectural designs into comprehensive and profitable cost plans. The Estimator plays a critical role in ensuring each project is accurately budgeted, financially viable, and aligned with timelines before breaking ground.
Key Responsibilities
🔎 Project Analysis & Planning

Review blueprints, architectural drawings, and scope-of-work documents

Analyze projects beginning from conceptual sketches to full plans

Research permits, insurance requirements, WPIA documentation, and local code compliance

Coordinate feasibility considerations including grading, utilities, drainage, and site challenges
📐 Quantity Takeoffs & Cost Estimation

Perform detailed material takeoffs (metal packages, lumber, finishes, equipment, etc.)

Calculate labor costs across all trades (framing, electrical, plumbing, concrete, etc.)

Obtain and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotes

Research up-to-date pricing and market fluctuations

Utilize AI tools and estimating software for efficiency and optimization
⚠ Risk Assessment & Budget Development

Identify potential site and market risks (rock, drainage, price volatility, safety requirements)

Build contingency planning into project budgets

Develop accurate, professional proposals and bid packages
-
Ensure projects are positioned to meet target budgets and timelines
🤝 Collaboration & Cost Control

Work closely with architects, designers, project managers, and clients

Align cost expectations with design decisions

Monitor project costs during construction

Forecast and proactively address potential overruns
Qualifications

Experience in construction estimating (metal building experience preferred)

Strong understanding of residential and/or commercial construction processes

Proficiency in takeoff and estimating software (AI familiarity a plus)

Strong negotiation and vendor management skills

Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

Ability to work in-office and collaborate daily with the team

Self-motivated with a profitability mindset
