Stick Welder / Fitter – Direct-Hire (Ashland Area)

Pay: $30–$35 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM (45–50 hours per week)
Travel: Approx. 30%

A growing industrial contractor is seeking an experienced Stick Welder/Fitter to support fabrication and field-installation work involving carbon-steel piping and structural assemblies. This position is ideal for a welder with strong SMAW experience who can work independently, follow technical drawings, and perform high-quality fits and welds in both shop and field environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform stick welding on carbon-steel piping, structural components, and assemblies according to established procedures and specifications.
• Fit, align, and prepare materials based on blueprints, drawings, and field measurements.
• Operate cutting and fabrication tools including torches, plasma cutters, grinders, and band saws.
• Support installation work on job sites, including setting equipment, preparing piping runs, and assisting with system assembly.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain compliance with job-site requirements.

Qualifications

• Proficient stick (SMAW) welding experience required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Experience fitting and preparing steel components for welding.
• Comfortable working in shop and field settings, including occasional travel.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
