About the Role
The Payroll Specialist will oversee all payroll processing activities, ensuring timely, compliant, and accurate pay for all staff. This position works closely with HR, Accounting, and department managers to maintain payroll integrity, resolve issues, and support continuous improvement in payroll operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process biweekly payroll for 200+ employees with precision and confidentiality
- Maintain employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, wage changes, and deductions
- Audit timecards, hours worked, PTO, and overtime for accuracy
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws
- Manage payroll deductions such as benefits, garnishments, and retirement contributions
- Prepare payroll reports for HR, Accounting, and leadership
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and clarity
- Support year‑end activities including W‑2s, audits, and reconciliations
- Collaborate on process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications
- Experience processing payroll for 200+ employees
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage & hour compliance
- Proficiency with payroll systems (ADP, Paycom, Paylocity, UKG, or similar)
- High attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy
- Excellent communication and customer‑service skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and handle sensitive information
- HR or accounting experience is a plus
