Mike and Kelly Heffner are the franchise owners of the Express Employment Professionals franchise located in Greenwood, IN (Indianapolis - South) as well as the office located in Columbus, IN. Express is the largest privately held staffing company in the country and is also the largest locally owned staffing company in the Indianapolis area (as ranked by the IBJ).

Mike and Kelly started their business in May of 2005 at the Greenwood location and quickly earned the "Fast Track" award for their start-up performance. In 2011, they were awarded one of the highest possible awards- "Franchisees of The Year." The Indianapolis Express offices are named a Top Workplace in Indianapolis by the Indy Star year after year. With the desire to expand, in June of 2014, Mike and Kelly opened the Columbus location. 

Mike and Kelly have a passion for helping people find great jobs and attribute their success to the team that works at the office. They have actively been a part of the south central Indiana community for almost 20 years and supported many local organizations along the way.

Mike has become a sought-after speaker and writer on topics such as leadership, employee engagement, retention, morale, change management, job search strategies and many other employment related areas. He serves on the Region 5 Indiana Workforce Development Board and the Aspire Johnson County Economic Development Board.

Mike and Kelly live in the Center Grove area and they attend both Emmanuel Christian Church and Mount Pleasant Christian Church. They have 2 adult-aged kids, Kaitlyn and Brandon.

Phill Powell joined Express Employment Professionals in 2007 and has worked for Mike for the last 15 years. In 2021, Phill took a big step and became a Managing Partner of the Express offices located in Greenwood, IN (Indianapolis - South) and Columbus, IN.

Phill graduated from Southeastern University in 2001. After five years in leadership at a church, he joined Express Employment Professionals. Powell has worked at Express under owner Mike Heffner's leadership for the past 15 years and has extensive recruiting, sales and leadership experience. He started with Express as an Employment Specialist and focused on Administrative staffing. He moved into a leadership role as the Inside Sales Manager and now oversees operations for Indianapolis South and Columbus.

Phill is actively involved with Mount Pleasant Christian Church. Phill hopes his experience can help make an impact on the Express staff, job seekers, and the businesses we serve.

Phill lives in Indianapolis with his wife Shannon and his 2 kids- Taylor and Drew.
