Job Full Description
Lab Assistant needed in Jonesboro performing all essential duties in the department include but not limited to:
- Answer and route incoming calls
- Greet visitors
- Assist clients and couriers as the first point of contact
- Receive, log, and distribute laboratory specimens while ensuring proper labeling, handling, and storage procedures are followed
- Assist with the accessioning and documentation of specimens
- Transport specimens between departments and occasionally to off-site locations
- Perform clerical duties including data entry, filing, faxing, and preparing reports and case files
- Maintain accurate logs, including specimen tracking and temperature records
- Stock and organize lab supplies, monitor inventory levels, and assist with ordering as needed
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas and support compliance with safety and sanitation standards
- Assist with specimen pickup and delivery routes, ensuring proper documentation and timely transport
- Ensure accurate and timely handling, logging, and distribution of specimens
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records with minimal errors
- Provide professional and efficient front desk support
- Contribute to smooth daily lab operations by staying organized
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a medical office, laboratory, or administrative role
- Experience handling specimens, records, or customer-facing responsibilities is a plus
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Must be dependable with excellent attendance and punctuality
- Strong work ethic and initiative
- Detail oriented with the ability to stay organized under pressure
- Professional demeanor with team-oriented mindset
- Ability to and and walk for extended periods of time frequently moving throughout the departments
- Able to lift and carry light to moderate materials
- Good manual dexterity and the ability to handle specimens safely and accurately
- Experience with working on computers, data entry, phones, printers, fax machines, specimen containers, barcode scanners, temperature logs, basic laboratory equipment and standard office and filing systems
Work Schedule: 4am to 12pm Monday - Friday
