Position Summary:
The CNC Machine Operator supports the development of advanced mechanical components through precision machining and fabrication. This role is ideal for a skilled machinist with at least 3 years of experience who is interested in expanding into mechanical design and drafting. The position requires the ability to execute rapid-turn machining modifications and produce high-quality components in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines, including mills, lathes, and saws.
  • Develop and optimize feeds, speeds, and machining strategies.
  • Perform precision machining modifications and fabricate new components as needed.
  • Inspect parts and ensure compliance with specifications and tolerances.
  • Maintain and configure machine shop equipment and metrology tools.
  • Manage workload and priorities with minimal supervision to meet production timelines.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and implement creative, time-sensitive solutions.
  • Support facility-related tasks, including equipment upkeep, clean room support, and occasional maintenance.
  • Participate in occasional travel to support testing at customer sites.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional CNC machining experience (mills and/or lathes).
  • H.S. Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or Technical Certification preferred.
  • Experience with HAAS or FANUC CNC controls.
  • Ability to write and edit G-Code programs.
  • Experience with CAM software (e.g., HSMWorks, Fusion 360, Mastercam, GibbsCAM, ESPRIT).
  • Familiarity with conversational programming (e.g., Proto-Trak, HAAS VPS).
  • Experience working in AS9100 or ISO9001 manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication and assembly drawings (ISO/ANSI standards), including version control.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance of CNC equipment and basic facility maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and pride in workmanship.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Personnel Security Clearance; active clearance preferred.
