Position Title: Food Sourcing Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time
Reports To: Director of Operations
Supervises: Food Sourcing Coordinator
Position Summary
The Food Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing, overseeing, and executing a comprehensive food sourcing strategy to secure shelf-stable, frozen, refrigerated, and fresh produce donations. This role works with a wide range of partners, including manufacturers, distributors, retailers, farmers, and food organizations.
The Food Sourcing Manager oversees a food sourcing budget, including restricted government funding that requires accurate tracking and monthly reporting. This position collaborates closely with the Programs team to ensure a diverse and balanced food inventory to support agency distribution, mobile programs, and child and senior initiatives. The role also works cross-functionally with internal teams to strengthen external partnerships and optimize sourcing efforts.
Food Sourcing Management

Develop and implement a comprehensive food sourcing strategy that includes shelf-stable, frozen, refrigerated, and fresh produce donations

Identify emerging trends in food sourcing and leverage technology to improve efficiency and donation processes

Maintain and grow relationships with existing food donors to increase donation volume and consistency

Establish and manage partnerships with food manufacturers, distributors, retailers, farmers, and other food organizations

Conduct regular in-person visits to donor sites, including farms, retail locations, and distribution centers

Develop purchasing and sourcing strategies in coordination with government food programs
-
Determine solicitation methods and frequency; establish systems for donor tracking, reporting, and acknowledgments

Stay informed on local, state, and national food sourcing trends and best practices through industry networks and associations

Participate in statewide and national food sourcing initiatives and collaborative projects

Represent the organization in food-related and business-focused associations, committees, and partnerships

Set, monitor, and evaluate annual sourcing goals across all product channels, adjusting strategies as needed
Emergency Response:
The organization serves as a second responder during community emergencies or disasters. Employees may be asked to assist during such events once personal responsibilities are addressed. Duties during emergencies may differ from normal responsibilities, and temporary assignments to other locations may be required (travel expenses covered).
Administration and Planning

Develop, collect, analyze, and maintain data required for reporting on restricted funds and grants

Monitor food sourcing activity and performance metrics; recommend and implement improvements

Research and identify new donor prospects and sourcing opportunities

Project and track monthly donor performance and collaborate with Finance on budget monitoring and forecasts

Serve as an active member of the Safety Committee, supporting food safety and personnel safety initiatives

Hire, train, coach, and evaluate food sourcing staff

Effectively prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and promote a culture of accountability, quality service, and excellence

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications
Position-Specific

Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, supply chain, or a related field preferred

Minimum of six (6) years of experience in food sourcing, procurement, supply chain management, or a related field

Proven experience managing staff and providing leadership and coaching

Strong strategic thinking, planning, and execution skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong organizational, research, and analytical abilities

Knowledge of the food industry and experience working with manufacturers, distributors, and retailers

Experience with data analytics, CRM systems, and technology-based process improvements

Strong collaborative skills and ability to work across departments and locations

Valid Florida driver’s license required

Working Conditions

This position requires travel approximately 75% of the workweek throughout a five-county service area
