Job Title: Athletic Groundskeeper
Location: College Campus
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (nights and weekends as needed)
Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour
Job Summary:
The Athletic Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining and preparing college athletic fields, grounds, and related equipment to ensure safe, high-quality playing surfaces for practices, games, and special events. This role requires hands-on athletic turf experience, attention to detail, and flexibility to support events outside regular business hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain natural and/or synthetic athletic turf, including mowing, aeration, fertilization, irrigation, and field lining
- Prepare athletic fields for games, practices, and special events
- Inspect fields regularly to ensure safety and optimal playing conditions
- Operate, maintain, and perform minor repairs on groundskeeping equipment and tools
- Assist with seasonal field renovations and turf management programs
- Use basic computer systems for work orders, scheduling, inventory, and record keeping
- Coordinate with coaching staff and athletic departments to meet field usage needs
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
Qualifications:
- Prior experience maintaining athletic turf and sports fields (required)
- Knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, and field preparation standards
- Ability to operate grounds and maintenance equipment safely
- Basic computer skills for tracking maintenance and schedules
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and extended hours during athletic events
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push, and carry equipment and materials
- Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and operating machinery
