Commercial Plumber – Job Overview

What Success Looks Like

  • All rough-in and trim phases are completed cleanly and to code

  • Plumbing systems consistently pass inspection on the first visit

  • Projects stay on schedule and finish on time

  • Apprentices are trained, mentored, and held to high standards

  • Work vehicle remains clean, organized, and stocked daily

  • Communication with supervisors and office staff is clear and professional

Key Objectives

  • Install full plumbing systems from underground to top-out to final trim

  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and scheduling instructions

  • Layout pipe runs and stage materials for upcoming phases

  • Set fixtures, test systems, and complete punch list items

  • Maintain jobsite safety and ensure code compliance

  • Operate equipment: pipe threaders, saws, core drills, chipping hammers, hydrostatic pumps

  • Bring and maintain a full set of personal hand tools

  • Lead and mentor helpers or apprentices on site

  • Represent the trade with professionalism on every job

Core Competencies

  • Knowledge of CPVC, PEX, copper, cast iron, and PVC drainage systems

  • Skilled in commercial fixture installs, pressure testing, and system layout

  • Capable of running full plumbing systems independently or with a team

  • Strong blueprint reading and trade coordination skills

  • Valid Florida driver’s license with clean record

  • Dependable, drug-free, and background check ready

  • Strong communicator, team leader, and problem solver

  • Punctual, prepared, and respectful in all work environments

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years as a lead plumber on commercial or mixed-use projects (apprentice time not included)

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • Demonstrated experience completing plumbing scopes for ground-up construction

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 75 lbs safely

  • Work from ladders, rooftops, and crawlspaces

  • Stand, climb, kneel, and crouch for extended periods

  • Perform in varying weather conditions, including high heat

  • Safely operate heavy tools and materials

Work Hours & Environment

  • 40–50 hours per week, Monday–Friday

  • Field shifts: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM

  • Field-based: job sites, work vehicle, and occasional office visits

  • Projects located throughout Marion County and surrounding areas

  • No required weekends
