Job Title: General Accounting Controller

 

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented General Accounting Controller to oversee the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, and payroll functions. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, in-depth accounting knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role plays a key part in supporting management through financial oversight, analysis, and regulatory compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Accounting Functions:
    • Oversee general ledger activities and ensure accurate financial records.
      Prepare and record payroll journal entries for the general ledger (GL).
    • Perform monthly reconciliation of payroll-related accounts to the GL, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
    • Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures and support internal and external audits.
    • Maintain and enforce strong internal controls.

 

  • Payroll Processing:
    • Accurately collect, compile, and enter payroll data, including wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions (benefits, garnishments, taxes, 401K contributions, etc.).
    • Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees using Paycom (HRIS system).
    • Address payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

 

  • Compliance & Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and labor regulations.
    • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and reports to applicable government agencies (e.g., IRS).
    • Generate and prepare payroll reports for management and auditors, including quarterly and annual reports (W-2s).

 

  • Financial Oversight:
    • Provide financial analysis and reporting to support management decision-making.

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including payroll oversight.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, payroll accounting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with accounting software; Paycom experience is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and deep knowledge of standard costing.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of tax preparation and compliance required.

 

Additional Information:

 

  • This role offers potential for expanded responsibilities based on performance and initiative.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus but not required.
  • Pay is $70,000+ Based off Experience
