Position: Golf Course Assistant Superintendent
Full time hours : Dayshift
Location: Port Saint Lucie, FL
Compensation: $24-$27/Hr (Based on experience/qualifications)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Schedules and supervises routine maintenance operations for the golf course.

Assists with maintenance of all playing surfaces, including greens, tees, fairways, slopes, bunkers, practice greens, and driving range.

Maintains landscape areas including entrance roads, parking lots, and clubhouse surroundings.

Assists in preparing and managing the annual golf course maintenance budget.

Oversees aquatic weed control and monitors lake washout levels.

Supports planning, design, and installation of irrigation and drainage systems.

Maintains accurate records for all fertilization and pesticide applications.
-
Assists with maintaining current irrigation and drainage systems.
-
Supports daily upkeep of facilities including clubhouse, restrooms, trash collection, and flooring.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs supervisory duties in accordance with applicable laws and internal policies. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training staff; assigning and reviewing work; conducting performance evaluations; and managing discipline, complaints, and conflict resolution.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Associate’s Degree in a horticulture-related field preferred.

Minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in golf course maintenance, with an emphasis on irrigation system repair and chemical/fertilization application required.

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
-
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required; must obtain a valid state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.

Valid State Pesticide Applicator License required or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
-
Knowledge of landscaping, turf management, and related equipment.
-
Familiarity with policies, procedures, and practices relevant to departmental operations.
-
Proficient in Microsoft Word and job-specific software.
-
Skilled in operation and preventative maintenance of landscaping tools and machinery.
-
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with staff, contractors, and the public.
-
Ability to operate specialized equipment including tractors, spreaders, sprayers, and cutting tools.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions and maintain accurate records.
-
Capable of supervising maintenance crews and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Comfortable performing physical labor in varying and potentially adverse weather conditions.
-
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
-
Effective time management and task follow-through.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this role, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk, talk, hear, and use hands to operate tools and equipment. The position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Visual acuity and the ability to adjust focus are necessary. Steel-toe or composite-toe footwear is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily performed outdoors and may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions, including heat, humidity, cold, and rain. The position also involves exposure to noise, dust, fumes, uneven terrain, heights (up to 30 feet), and potentially stressful situations. The work environment is typically moderate to loud in noise level.
