Express Employment Professionals is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and motivated Staff Accountant to join our client’s accounting team in Vero Beach, FL. This position is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity for a professional with a solid background in accounting and a passion for accuracy, problem-solving, and process improvement. 

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative environment, demonstrates exceptional organizational skills, and is comfortable taking initiative to enhance accounting processes and financial accuracy.


Key Responsibilities

General Ledger

  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts.

  • Process monthly recurring and closing entries, including prepaid expenses and deferred revenue.

  • Generate and analyze various monthly reports for service centers.

  • Assist with month-end close activities and special projects assigned by the Controller/CFO.

  • Prepare year-end audit schedules and assist with financial audit processes.

Expense Reporting & Credit Card Program

  • Download and import weekly credit card transactions.

  • Reconcile credit card clearing accounts and monitor adherence to receipt and expense policies.

  • Audit expense reports for accuracy and compliance.

Compliance & Regulatory Support

  • Manage external compliance requirements, including annual license renewals.

  • Support company compliance with ISO standards, state licensing agencies, and safety regulations.

  • Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly compliance reports required under various contracts.

Fleet Tracking

  • Maintain and update fleet assignment lists.

  • Track tag renewals, monitor due dates, and ensure timely reporting.

  • Prepare quarterly mileage and fleet utilization reports.


Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Accounting or Finance required.

  • Minimum 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience, with emphasis on general ledger and account reconciliation.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (advanced level preferred).

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX is a plus.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical ability.

  • Proven ability to manipulate and interpret large datasets and compile accurate reports.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Independent worker with sound judgment and the ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Prior audit and compliance experience highly desirable.
