Job Description

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Finance Manager to support a growing nonprofit organization serving children and families through meals, clothing, education, and an upcoming Family Shelter.

This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting functions and delivering accurate, timely financial reporting to support leadership and Board-level decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring strong nonprofit accounting knowledge, integrity, and a collaborative mindset.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank deposits, and reconciliations

  • Manage general ledger accuracy and month-end closing procedures

  • Prepare financial statements, budget reports, and variance analyses for leadership and the Board

  • Collaborate with leadership to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit financial regulations

  • Assist with grant budgeting, reporting, and reimbursement submissions

  • Serve as primary contact for external auditors and prepare audit documentation

  • Maintain financial records, chart of accounts, and internal controls

  • Monitor cash flow and provide recommendations to support organizational stability

  • Process invoices, receipts, vendor payments, and donor income

  • Support leadership with financial insights for program operations and future planning

  • Protect confidential information and maintain the highest standards of ethical financial oversight


Qualifications & Required Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting or financial management

  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Online preferred)

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit financial practices

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting

Preferred

  • Experience in nonprofit finance and grant accounting

  • Audit experience or familiarity with audit preparation

  • Experience working in a mission-driven environment


Work Environment & Expectations

  • Office-based position with occasional off-site meetings

  • Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly growing nonprofit environment

  • May require lifting up to 25 lbs and extended periods of computer work

  • Must maintain the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality
