Express Employment Professionals is a professional staffing firm dedicated to helping local businesses find local people. One of our outstanding clients in Nampa is looking for a Material Handler Lead / Senior Material Handler to join their team.

Pay: $20-$25 DOE

Schedule: Monday -Friday 7:00am -4:00pm

Position Summary

The Material Handler Lead plays a hands-on leadership role within warehouse operations, ensuring materials are received, stored, moved, and shipped accurately, safely, and on time. This role combines daily material handling responsibilities with team leadership, training, and coordination, serving as a key link between front-line staff and warehouse management.

 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Oversight

  • Lead, coach, and support a team of material handlers to meet daily productivity and accuracy goals
  • Assign work, prioritize tasks, and adjust staffing to meet operational demands
  • Train new and existing employees on material handling procedures, equipment use, and safety standards
  • Serve as a point of contact for questions, problem-solving, and escalation during shifts
  • Promote a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment

 

Material Handling & Operations

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials for accuracy and quality
  • Safely move materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment as required
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and organization of inventory
  • Pick, stage, and prepare materials for production or shipment
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using the warehouse management systems

 

Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Enforce safety policies, PPE requirements, and OSHA guidelines
  • Identify and address safety hazards or process inefficiencies
  • Participate in inventory counts, audits, and root-cause analysis for discrepancies
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to workflow, layout, or material flow

 

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2–4+ years of material handling or warehouse experience
  • Prior experience leading, training, or mentoring others
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment safely (forklift certification preferred or required)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods

Preferred

  • Experience in a manufacturing or high-volume distribution environment
  • Familiarity with WMS, ERP, or inventory control systems
  • Previous experience acting as a lead, coordinator, or supervisor

 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
  • Operation of warehouse equipment and tools
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and warehouse conditions

  • The team works safely, efficiently, and with minimal errors by using coaching and supporting techniques
  • Materials are available when needed, with accurate inventory and documentation
  • New hires are trained quickly and consistently
  • Issues are identified early and resolved proactively
