Safety Coordinator – DeLamar

 

Summary:

The DeLamar project incorporates the DeLamar and Florida Mountain deposits located in Idaho. The Mining Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations related to mining operations. This role focuses on promoting a culture of safety while enabling smooth execution of operations in alignment with project goals.

The coordinator will work closely with the Project Development Manager and other stakeholders to facilitate effective safety practices across all project areas. This position also involves conducting safety audits, inspections, and training to enhance the overall safety performance of the site.

  • Regulatory agencies
  • Design and engineering firms
  • Local community representatives

 

Responsibilities

  • Promote and uphold health, safety, and environmental standards on-site.
  • Develop and maintain safety policies and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including MSHA standards.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections across all project activities to identify hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Deliver safety training and orientation to site personnel and contractors, emphasizing best practices and emergency preparedness.
  • Implement and monitor health and safety KPIs to assess the effectiveness of safety initiatives.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective safety communications and reporting.
  • Respond to and investigate incidents, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Support the permitting process by providing site-specific health and safety details as needed.
  • Participate in project reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to health and safety practices.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in health and safety management within mining or related sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of mining operations and safety regulations, particularly MSHA and OSHA standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience with risk assessments and safety program development.
  • Ability to cultivate a culture of safety and compliance among diverse teams.
