Summary:
The Heavy Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating heavy-duty machinery to perform bending, forming, and balancing operations while meeting production, quality, and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Set up fixtures and machinery to perform bending, forming, and balancing operations on heavy equipment.
- Operate machines to meet expected production rates while monitoring equipment conditions.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using micrometers, scales, and fixed gauges, recording inspection data.
- Inspect parts during production runs for defects such as burrs or broken punches and notify the set-up person of issues.
- Follow prescribed safety practices, engage safety devices, assist with moving materials, and operate other department equipment as directed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience (2–3 months) operating various machines, tooling, and inspection equipment.
- Basic math skills, including adding and subtracting.
- Ability to read shop orders, check parts against drawings, and use fixed gauges.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform heavy physical work for extended periods.
- English speaking preferred; ability to stand for long periods.
