Job Title: Lab Technician (1st Shift)
City and State: Hampshire, IL
Pay Rate: $18.00/hour
Schedule/Shift: Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm

Summary
Express Employment Professionals is assisting a manufacturing company in the Hampshire, IL area in their search for a Lab Technician. This position supports laboratory operations by preparing test specimens, performing material testing, and assisting with equipment maintenance in a quality-focused environment. Responsibilities
- Prepare metallographic cross sections (cut, mount, and polish) for evaluation
- Prepare materials for Rockwell hardness testing and perform hardness tests
- Conduct microhardness testing on prepared specimens
- Assist with heat treatment of test specimens per specifications
- Machine tensile test specimens and verify dimensions using hand tools
- Assist with calibration of hand measurement tools
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure workstations are clean and organized
- Support lead lab technician with sending materials to external laboratories
- Participate in internal and external proficiency testing annually
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or lab environment preferred
- Ability to use hand tools and measurement instruments
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic understanding of testing procedures and quality standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
