Job Title: Punch Press Set-Up/Operator
City and State: Carpentersville, IL
Pay Rate: $19–$22/hour
Schedule/Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00am–2:30pm (1st Shift)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Summary:
Operate and set up punch press equipment to produce quality parts to specification. Ensure proper die installation, perform inspections, and maintain safety and quality standards throughout production.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate punch presses, including installing dies, adjusting ram height/stroke, and preparing safety equipment
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections; monitor for defects such as cracking, buckling, or damaged punches
- Read blueprints, shop orders, and samples to produce parts within specifications using measuring tools
- Maintain tooling and equipment by identifying wear, greasing, and reporting repair or sharpening needs
- Handle materials and scrap, keep work area clean, and follow all safety procedures while communicating issues to leadership
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of punch press set-up/operator or similar experience
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings is preferred
- Knowledge of measuring tools and inspection techniques is a plus
- Understanding of quality standards and safety regulations with strong attention to detail
- High school diploma or GED; technical training is an advantage
