Housing shelter in South Chicago seeking House Coordinator for 3rdd shift.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 11pm-7am
Where: near 63rd & Western, Chicago, IL
Position Summary:
The House Coordinator plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the shelter by ensuring a safe, organized, and supportive environment for all clients. This team member facilitates daily routines, documents activities, monitors progress, and helps maintain the integrity of shelter services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate daily scheduled activities, creating a structured and respectful shelter environment
- Monitor client progress and engagement, addressing concerns and escalating as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation of all activities, incidents, daily logs, and client write-ups
- Complete daily client intakes and ensure timely reporting of bed/space availability to DFSS
- Oversee upkeep and organization of linen and supply areas
- Ensure clients complete assigned chores and assist in maintaining communal spaces
- Support meal service preparation and distribution
- Conduct searches and wanding of client belongings upon entry for safety and compliance
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or certification in human services preferred
- Prior experience working in a shelter, residential facility, or related health care environment
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism and empathy in high-pressure or emotionally sensitive situations
- Familiarity with safety protocols and trauma-informed care principles
- Basic computer literacy for reporting and documentation purposes
