Job Full Description

We are recruiting a skilled Maintenance Technician for a well-established wire product manufacturing facility located in the Back of the Yards area. This role is responsible for maintaining production and facility equipment in safe, efficient, and reliable working condition. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

 

Industry: Wire Product Manufacturing
Location: Back of the Yards, Chicago
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety regulations and OSHA guidelines, including Lockout/Tagout procedures
  • Perform routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and documentation
  • Coordinate with outside vendors for equipment repairs and facility improvements
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs for machinery including tanks, compressors, heaters, HVAC, and ventilation systems
  • Diagnose and repair failing or malfunctioning equipment
  • Identify opportunities to improve machine efficiency, operation, and safety
  • Identify, report, and correct safety hazards
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and notify supervision of needed parts or materials
  • Assist with evaluation and selection of new equipment or technology
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Perform general facility upkeep tasks as needed, including scheduled waste removal

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Vocational or technical training preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience
  • Forklift certification required
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, and basic construction
    • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
    • Industrial equipment such as resistance welders, punch presses, press brakes, forming machines, mills, lathes, compressors, straight and cut machines
    • MIG and TIG welding
    • CNC technology
  • Proficient with gauges and measurement tools
  • Basic computer and internet skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work independently, manage projects, and instruct others when needed
  • Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
