Batch Operator – Food Manufacturing
Location: Back of the Yards, Chicago Pay: $18.50 per hour Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM Schedule: Sunday – Thursday
Overview
We are seeking a dependable Batch Operator to support daily food-production operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for accurately preparing and mixing ingredients, operating processing equipment, and maintaining strict food-safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to batch sheets and formulas.

Operate kettles, mixers, blenders, pumps, and automated batching systems (AKILLA or similar).

Monitor temperatures, mixing speeds, and processing times to ensure consistent product quality.

Document ingredient usage, lot numbers, and batch data for QA and traceability.

Follow GMPs, HACCP, allergen control, and sanitation procedures at all times.

Inspect raw materials before use and report any quality concerns.

Coordinate with production, QA, and warehouse teams to maintain workflow.

Perform basic troubleshooting and report equipment issues to maintenance.

Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas per sanitation guidelines.

Maintain a safe work environment and follow all PPE and safety rules.
Qualifications
-
Previous experience in food manufacturing, batching, or mixing preferred.

Ability to read and follow batch sheets, SOPs, and production instructions.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for the duration of the shift.

Familiarity with GMPs and food-safety standards is a plus.

Basic math and documentation skills required.
