Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Day Shift
Location: Blue Island, IL
Position Summary:
Our client, a cement manufacturing facility in Blue Island, IL, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support plant operations by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on industrial equipment. This role reports to the Maintenance Manager and plays a key part in ensuring safe, efficient production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritize personal and team safety; follow all safety policies and attend required meetings
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and lubrication on plant equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems (belts, bearings, seals, conveyors, pumps, etc.)
- Conduct welding, cutting, and basic fabrication as needed
- Maintain and organize tools, parts, and work areas
- Complete inspection reports and communicate issues to management
- Support planned shutdowns, emergency repairs, and continuous improvement efforts
- Operate mobile equipment (forklifts, manlifts, scissor lifts) safely
- Collaborate with operators to identify and resolve equipment issues
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience (manufacturing/plant preferred)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read technical documents and follow instructions
- Good communication, attendance, and safety record
- Basic math skills and ability to work independently
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, and working in industrial environments
- Ability to lift 25 lbs regularly and up to 100+ lbs occasionally
- Comfortable working on uneven surfaces and in varying conditions
