Shipping & Receiving Clerk
Location: Chicago, IL

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Shipping & Receiving Clerk to join our manufacturing team in Chicago. This role is responsible for managing the daily flow of incoming and outgoing inventory by accurately receiving, processing, storing, and shipping materials. The ideal candidate will ensure inventory accuracy, maintain proper documentation, and support efficient warehouse operations while following all company safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities and product condition against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Process receipts and inventory transactions using an ERP system (Epicor experience preferred).
- Pick, pack, label, and prepare customer orders for shipment.
- Generate shipping documentation including packing slips, bills of lading, and shipping labels.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through timely and accurate data entry.
- Coordinate with Purchasing, Production, Sales, and Quality departments to resolve inventory discrepancies and material shortages.
- Inspect incoming materials for damage and report any issues promptly.
- Organize and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient shipping and receiving area.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment as needed.
- Assist with cycle counts, physical inventory, and inventory audits.
- Maintain shipping, receiving, and freight documentation.
- Follow all company safety policies and shipping regulations.
- Perform other warehouse and inventory-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, or inventory control within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience using an ERP or MRP system; Epicor ERP experience is highly preferred.
- Understanding of inventory control processes and warehouse procedures.
- Knowledge of domestic shipping procedures; international shipping experience is a plus.
- Strong computer and data entry skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple departments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Forklift experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Must be able to operate warehouse equipment safely.
- Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Additional Qualifications
- Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment (forklift certification preferred).
- Ability to read engineering drawings, part numbers, and bills of materials is a plus.
- Experience performing cycle counts and maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Working knowledge of shipping carriers such as UPS, FedEx, and LTL freight.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
