Parts Room – Inventory Specialist
Location: Lafayette, IN
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Overtime: Overtime may be required before or after the scheduled shift, with most overtime occurring after the end of the shift.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Parts Room – Inventory Specialist to support inventory accuracy, material movement, and parts room operations within a manufacturing environment. This position plays a key role in maintaining inventory integrity, locating and delivering parts, and ensuring materials are available to support production and maintenance teams.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently, stay organized, and effectively manage multiple tasks throughout the day while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform cycle counts and inventory audits to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Verify pallet locations and investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Communicate inventory inaccuracies to supervisors and assist with corrective actions.
- Use handheld scanners and inventory management systems to track and verify materials.
- Pick, verify, and stage parts for production and maintenance teams.
- Assemble and prepare parts kits as needed.
- Locate and retrieve missing parts throughout the facility.
- Deliver materials and parts to various departments and buildings.
- Operate forklifts, cherry pickers, and personnel lifts safely and efficiently (training provided as needed).
- Assist with parts room operations and provide coverage during absences or peak workload periods.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient work area.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to inventory control and material flow.
- Work independently while managing daily priorities and assigned tasks.
Qualifications
- Previous inventory, warehouse, parts room, or material handling experience preferred.
- Forklift experience preferred; certification is a plus.
- Ability to learn and operate cherry pickers, man lifts, and other material handling equipment.
- Experience using handheld scanners and inventory tracking systems preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and stay productive with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking between departments and buildings throughout the workday.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift materials regularly.
- Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working at heights while operating cherry pickers and lifts.
