Apartment Maintenance Technician
Location: Lafayette, IN
Position Summary
We're looking for a dependable, hardworking Apartment Maintenance Technician to join our team! This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in keeping properties in great condition, and is eager to learn the apartment maintenance trade.
Working alongside an experienced maintenance team, you'll assist with apartment turnovers, routine maintenance, repairs, and property upkeep to help provide residents with a safe, clean, and well-maintained community.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid Indiana driver's license with a good driving record
- Previous maintenance, construction, landscaping, or general labor experience is helpful but not required
- Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely use hand and power tools
- Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work throughout the day, including bending, climbing ladders, kneeling, and working outdoors in various weather conditions
Responsibilities
- Complete apartment turns by preparing units for new residents
- Perform basic maintenance and repairs including:
- Drywall repair
- Painting and touch-up work
- Basic plumbing repairs
- Light electrical work (changing outlets, switches, fixtures)
- Appliance installation and minor repairs
- Assist with groundskeeping and property appearance
- Help organize maintenance shops, warehouses, and inventory
- Deliver materials and supplies to maintenance staff as needed
- Complete preventative maintenance tasks
- Respond to resident maintenance requests in a professional and timely manner
- Follow all company safety procedures and policies
- Assist with other maintenance and property improvement projects as assigned
Schedule
Current Seasonal Hours (through mid-August):
- Monday–Saturday
- 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Standard Schedule:
- Monday–Friday
- 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Compensation
$19.00–$25.00 per hour
- Starting pay is based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
