Assembly Technician I – Light Commercial
Location: Lenexa, KS
Pay Rate: $19.00/hour
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday | 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
Position Summary
Express Employment Professionals is seeking a dependable Assembly Technician I to join a growing manufacturing team in Lenexa, KS. Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, this position is responsible for assembling components into complete units and subassemblies on a production line or workbench using hand and powered tools. The ideal candidate will be safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform repetitive assembly operations in a manufacturing setting.
- Assemble fan components using hand, pneumatic, and electric tools and fixtures.
- Follow detailed written and verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately.
- Consistently wear and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
- Assist in maintaining housekeeping and cleanliness standards throughout the production area.
- Apply labels and identification markings to finished products.
- Test and inspect completed units to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
- Package finished products for shipment and place materials on pallets as required.
- Operate manufacturing equipment including drill presses, punch presses, riveting machines, FG sealing machines, staple guns, and nail guns.
- Perform various production and assembly tasks based on daily production schedules and business needs.
- Maintain dependable attendance and adhere to all company safety policies.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum 6 months of manufacturing or assembly experience required; 1 year preferred.
- Ability to use hand, pneumatic, and electric tools safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production environment.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach at ground level and above shoulder height.
- Must be able to stand and walk throughout the workday, up to 10 hours per shift.
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, gloves, and face shields.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to machinery, moderate noise levels, and varying temperatures.
- May be exposed to loud and repetitive machine noises.
- May work around chemicals in accordance with MSDS guidelines.
- Requires adherence to safety procedures and teamwork in a production-driven atmosphere.
