Job Title: Fitter with Leadership Experience    

Location: Detroit, MI

Position Type: Full-Time

Shift: 1st shift: 7am-3:30pm

Pay: $27 or more based on experience

About Us:  Since 1990, the company has grown from a staff of two to a workforce of more than 40 employees. The shop has been expanded to a twenty thousand square foot facility.

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter with strong leadership abilities to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of fitting and assembly processes, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to lead and mentor a team effectively. This role involves overseeing fitting projects, ensuring quality standards are met, and optimizing team performance in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to assemble, install, and repair components.

·       Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment to cut, shape, and fit materials accurately.

·       Lead and supervise, providing guidance, training, and support to achieve project goals.

·       Plan and allocate work to team members, ensuring timelines and quality standards are consistently met.

·       Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other departments to address technical challenges and improve processes.

·       Maintain a safe and organized work environment, promoting adherence to company safety protocols and policies.

Qualifications:

·       Proven experience as a Fitter, with expertise in reading technical drawings and using fitting tools and equipment.

·       Demonstrated leadership experience, including supervising and mentoring teams in a production or construction setting.

·       Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.

·       Knowledge of safety standards and best practices in a workshop or construction environment.

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.

·       Proficiency in using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

·       Experience with welding

Working Conditions:

Working in a shop environment.
