Cheesemonger & Warehouse Job Summary:

This is a unique, hands-on role combining behind-the-scenes artisan cheese production with the energy of running your own farmers market booth. You’ll spend your time crafting and preparing specialty cheeses in the shop, then take the lead at weekend markets—engaging customers, sharing product knowledge, and representing the brand. It’s a physical, fast-paced position in a small, team-oriented environment where independence, reliability, and attention to detail are key, offering the opportunity to take real ownership of your work and be part of a growing, passion-driven business.

Cheesemonger & Warehouse Responsibilities:

  • Process, cut, wrap, and label cheese while maintaining quality and food safety standards
  • Organize and maintain inventory in the warehouse and cooler, including sorting, labeling, and rotating stock
  • Pack products and supplies for farmers markets, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
  • Perform warehouse duties including packing orders, labeling, loading and unloading deliveries, and sorting products
  • Load, unload, and transport products and equipment between the warehouse and market locations
  • Travel to and from farmers markets in cities outside of Grand Rapids, ensuring timely setup and breakdown
  • Operate farmers market booths independently, managing setup, sales, and customer interactions
  • Cut, sample, and recommend cheeses to customers, providing knowledgeable and friendly service
  • Handle cash and process transactions using Square POS
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe workspace in both warehouse and market environments

Schedule & Pay:  

  • Shop Operations - flexible schedule - $21/HR 
  • Cheesemonger - 3 days per week - $10/HR + 8% commission 

Cheesemonger & Warehouse Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong organization skills with a high attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Proven reliability and ability to follow through on responsibilities

  • Comfortable balancing repetitive production tasks with customer-facing interaction

  • Ability to maintain consistent energy throughout long, active workdays

  • Demonstrates ownership of work with a willingness to learn and continuously improve
