Specialist II Job Summary:
We are looking to fill a Specialist II position at a national manufacturer of polystyrene insulation products in Byron Center, MI. They develop and manufacture expanded polystyrene insulation products for construction, packaging, and OEM products. Specialist II Responsibilities:
- General understanding of the manufacturing processes, quality standards equipment operations, safety requirements and departmental procedures
- Direct department personnel to ensure orders are produced in a timely fashion and
adhere to safety and quality standards in accordance with company policies and
applicable laws
- Must be able to work independently and collaborate with others to ensure
production schedule and quality standards are met, and report issues to supervisor.
- Seeks supervisor for work assignment during downtime
- Operate and set up departmental equipment
- Perform various data collection functions in PeopleSoft (ERP)
- Maximize yield and reduce scrap
- Report department metrics
- Verify order information and produce part(s) with the correct material, density,
weight, size, and/or shape within quality tolerance to meet customer specifications
while meeting productivity standards
- Rotate to and support multiple areas of the line, troubleshoot issues, fill in for breaks and absences
Schedule & Pay:
- 2nd shift 3:00pm – 11:30pm Monday-Friday with flexibility to stay late and work Saturday as required
- $21.00/HR
Specialist II Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Must be fluent in the English language, both written and spoken.
- Must be able to use simple math and use basic hand-held measuring tools.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Machine operation or basic troubleshooting.
- Must be computer literate; Excel, Word, Outlook, ERP systems.
