Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Scale House Operator to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for accurately weighing and recording incoming and outgoing materials at the scale house, ensuring efficient processing of shipments, and maintaining precise records. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and experience operating various warehouse equipment. This position plays a vital role in supporting smooth warehouse operations, inventory management, and compliance with safety standards. This position is a contract to hire role through Express Employment.

Responsibilities:

• Operate scale equipment to weigh trucks, containers, and materials accurately upon arrival and departure
• Record weight data meticulously using the warehouse management system (WMS)
• Determine the grade of the material and enter it into the inventory system
• Operates scale computer, applying correct material and inventory codes
• Prepare proper paperwork for shipments
• Communicate effectively with transportation, customers, management, and yard employees
• Report fraudulent activity, and report all accidents and injuries timely
• Other duties as assigned

Skills:

• MUST have operated a truck scale previously
• Customer service experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for weight verification and inventory counts
• Basic math, computer and data entry skills
• Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members across departments
• Ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety standards
• Ability to work outside in all weather
