General Labor - 3PM-11:30PM

Position Summary

The Pallet & Crate Builder is responsible for constructing wooden pallets, boxes, and shipping crates by hand to support the packaging and transportation of finished glass products. This position works within a manufacturing environment and uses hand and power tools to build custom and standard shipping containers that meet quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and capable of performing physical labor in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build wooden pallets, crates, and shipping boxes according to specifications and production schedules.
  • Measure, cut, and assemble lumber using hand tools and power tools such as nail guns, saws, drills, and hammers.
  • Read and interpret work orders, drawings, and packaging requirements.
  • Inspect completed pallets and crates for quality, accuracy, and structural integrity.
  • Assist in packaging and securing glass products for shipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
  • Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on tools and equipment.
  • Load, move, and stack lumber and finished products as needed.
  • Collaborate with production, shipping, and warehouse teams to meet customer requirements.
  • Report material shortages, equipment issues, or safety concerns to supervisors.
  • Support other manufacturing and packaging operations as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing, construction, carpentry, packaging, or warehouse experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier loads with assistance.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and varying temperatures.
  • Manual dexterity required for handling tools, lumber, and fasteners.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Work Environment

  • Industrial glass manufacturing facility.
  • Exposure to moving machinery, forklifts, wood dust, and glass products.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, gloves, and other safety equipment as required.
