Position Summary
Express Employment Professionals is proud to partner with a respected nonprofit organization in Kalispell, MT, to hire a Major Gifts Officer. This individual will take the lead on a transformational $12.5 million capital campaign—the largest initiative in the organization’s history—aimed at dramatically expanding services across the Flathead Valley and surrounding areas.
This is a hybrid role, with a combination of office time, in-field outreach, and regional travel. The organization offers a positive, mission-driven culture, a highly collaborative team environment, and the support of a dedicated Board of Directors and Capital Campaign Committee. A nationally recognized consulting firm may also be engaged to assist in campaign efforts.
The Major Gifts Officer will report directly to the Director of Development and provide regular updates to the Board.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the strategy and execution of a $12.5M capital campaign.

Manage a personal portfolio of major donors and prospects, including planned giving contributors.

Serve as the primary relationship manager for major gifts, conducting in-person donor meetings for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Design and implement customized strategies to engage donors in alignment with campaign goals.

Research, screen, and prepare detailed donor profiles in collaboration with the Director of Development.

Provide strategic support to broader fundraising efforts.

Maintain accurate records and timely documentation in the donor database.

Ensure meaningful and timely donor acknowledgments.

Assist in forecasting and managing campaign revenue and budgets.

Meet or exceed performance and revenue targets.

Collaborate with the Director of Development to integrate donor engagement into organizational events and create donor-specific functions.

Stay current on programs, services, and broader community issues relevant to the mission.

Deliver monthly progress updates to leadership and campaign stakeholders.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required.

Minimum 3 years of experience in major gift fundraising; capital campaign experience highly preferred.

Proven success securing five- and six-figure donations.

Passion for mission-driven work focused on community impact and equity.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and donor CRM software.

High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build lasting donor relationships.

Willingness to travel regionally for donor cultivation and outreach.
